Discover the wonders of water

NEWTOWN - Sci-Bono Discovery Centre is celebrating summer this school holiday by presenting another exciting holiday programme.

The theme of the programme is Wonderous Water, which aims to celebrate the ‘blue gold’ that is one of the most precious and scarce resources on the planet. Join the centre as it takes its visitors on a journey to discover more about the liquid planet.

The exciting programme is packed with interactive science experiments that will leave children in awe. Starting every day at 10am until 29 September, children can get their hands wet as they build their own steam boat and learn how steam can be used as a source of energy.

They can also learn that the power of water is not only limited to steamboats. Children can also build water rockets and see who shoots their rocket the highest, while hydrogen used in fuel cells can be used as a major source of clean energy in future. There will also be a lesson on fuel cell technology, how it works, and how it may develop in the future. Children will be shown how hydrogen is produced from water which will be used to run a small hydrogen fuel cell car.

Discover why some objects sink while others float during the amazing Aqua Spectacle Science Show that takes place every day at 1pm. The science of water will be explored further by learning more about bubbles, what holds them together, and why insects can walk on water. If you get bored of water there are more than 350 interactive science exhibits in the centre that will keep young and old entertained for hours.

Sci-Bono Discovery Centre is open Monday to Friday between 9am to 5pm and Saturday and Sunday between 9.30am to 4.30pm.
