Parktown girl wins SA leg of Nasa Scientist for a Day competition

PARKVIEW – Parktown Girls is proud of Grade 9 learner Shaina Pranjivan who won the South African leg of the Nasa Scientist for a Day competition.

Parktown High School for Girls congratulates Shaina Pranjivan.

Shaina, a Grade 9 learner, who won the South African leg of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (Nasa) Scientist for a Day competition.

Learners were instructed to select one of three moons given (Miranda, Triton or Charon) and motivate why Nasa should send a robotic spacecraft to explore it further.

Shaina chose Triton as her essay topic.

The 14-year-old was congratulated on her well-written, thought-provoking essay.

Dr Nadia Karrim of the South African Space Generation Advisory Council (Sagac) thanked all scholars who put so much effort into preparing their essays and the teachers and parents who supported the learners and helped co-ordinate the competition within their schools.
