Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital discharges coronavirus patient

PARKTOWN – The 29-year-old female had tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, 7 March.


The Gauteng province only had one coronavirus patient and she has been discharged from Charlotte Maxeke Academic Hospital. The 29-year old patient tested positive for COVID-19 on Saturday, 7 March.

Gauteng Member of the Executive Committee (MEC) for Health Dr Bandile Masuku visited the hospital yesterday, 10 March to check on the progress of the patient. He also offered his support to the staff in charge of treating the patient.

The Gauteng Department of Health said that the patient was in high spirits following the visit and could be discharged the same day to self-isolate.

After the visit to the hospital, Masuku said on Twitter, “We applaud the amazing work of the team at Charlotte Maxeke Hospital, and the feedback they shared with us. We are continuously learning and improving our systems.”.

The 29-year-old patient has since been discharged.
