Steer advises residents to follow due procedure in handling City trees

JOBURG – Johannesburg City Parks is the go-to entity regarding tree and park issues.

Looking after the vegetation in the suburbs is important, which is why Ward 87 councillor Bridget Steer has shared some advice with residents on how they can contact Johannesburg City Parks regarding trees and parks.

Steer said, “It is illegal for any resident to trim or remove a tree on City property. If you need a tree trimmed or removed, please report it to City of Johannesburg and get a reference number, then fill in the Tree Works application form to be emailed to Alton Rankin.”

She added that Rankin can also be emailed for park maintenance. “For trees that have fallen into the road, residents can call the City of Johannesburg call centre and select option 0 for the emergency tree felling team and get a reference number.”
