5th Avenue in Parkhurst gets a new mini-substation after fire

PARKHURST – The Parkhurst community had no power for three days after a fire at a mini-substation.


The mini-substation on 5th Avenue in Parkhurst went up in flames on Friday (28 February) leaving many parts in Parkhurst in the dark for a few days.

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck tweeted information he received from the City Power depot team which said that they were aware of the burned substation on 5th Avenue, their technicians were on-site and in the process of replacing the mini-substation.

The cause of the fire is still unknown. Truluck said residents were without power for three days.

On 1 March, City Power collected the new mini-substation which made its way to 5th Avenue, to restore power in Parkhurst.
