The fight against violence is on every day

PARKTOWN – Childline reflected on the current year and called for the country's need to fight for peace every single day of the year.

The 32nd Childline annual general meeting (AGM) was successfully held at Childline Gauteng in Parktown.

Chairman at Childline, Tshebo Mokoena expressed his gratitude towards partners and the community at large who make it possible through their support to enable Childline to deliver services that are badly needed.

“The quality and selfless service of the volunteers and professional team is always something to admire and the respect that funders and supporters have given us has been consistent and positive. Social workers are the cornerstone of our work and service delivery and we truly appreciate the commitment, support and spirit of partnership,” Mokoena said.

Managing director at Childline Gauteng, Lynne Cawood said with the commemoration of 16 Days of Activism, the organisation would like to rather suggest a change of name to 365 Days of Peace as all the staff at Childline work towards peace for all.

She also referred to the Emergency Action Plan declared by President Cyril Ramaphosa to deal with the scourge of gender-based violence and expressed hopes that everyone would work together to achieve the goals within the plan.

“We at Childline GP continue to be guided by our SA Constitution and Bill of Rights, and seek to ensure the implementation of Section 28 pertaining to children. This provides a guide to us all on the journey to co-create a country where the dignity of all humanity is respected in the interests of children and future generations,” said Cawood.
