Alleged robber fatally wounded at Zoo Lake

PARKVIEW – An alleged robber was fatally shot at Zoo Lake on 22 November.

Parkview police have confirmed that an alleged robber was fatally shot at Zoo Lake on the evening of 22 November.

A spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said the shooting followed an incident where a suspect had allegedly accosted and robbed a Vietnamese national of his personal belongings at gunpoint near a restaurant in the Zoo Lake vicinity.

“It is alleged that a patron inside the restaurant observed the incident and fired shots, fatally wounding the suspect,” said Sibeko.

“The suspect’s firearm, with serial numbers filed off, was seized by police for further investigation.”

Sibeko added that a case of armed robbery and an inquest was opened at the Parkview Police Station.
