School Civvies Day aims at giving to others

CRAIGHALL PARK – St Teresa's junior learners and staff managed to raise enough funds for 35 children in Nkandla to enjoy Christmas.

St Teresa’s Junior Primary School in Craighall Park had a civvies day to raise funds for Sizanani Outreach Programme’s Christmas Project.

Sizanani Outreach Programme is an initiative of the Franciscan Nardini Sisters who have been working in Nkandla, KwaZulu-Natal for more than 60 years providing medical services, skills development, education and shelter to the disadvantaged and vulnerable.

Every year the outreach programme hosts a children’s Christmas party. The aim of the party is to give children supported by the programme happy memories as well as some new clothes, toiletries, school supplies and a meal. Staff and learners from St Teresa’s Junior Primary School each contributed R10 towards civvies day and, in doing so, sponsored 35 children from outreach programme to attend their Christmas party.
