Parkview police joined hands with Every Nation Church Rosebank to address issues of gender-based violence and xenophobia at Parkhurst Primary School on 12 September.

The event was initiated by Every Nation Church members who began by praying for the children and assuring them that they are safe.

Spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said, “The schoolchildren were informed to avoid violence and treat each other with love and respect.

They were also informed about xenophobia and the fear and hatred of what is perceived to be foreign and strange.”

Service head in the children’s department at Every Nation Rosebank Sphamandla Xulu said, “Kids are in need of more conversations around these topics. We taught them about God’s heart on these topics and let children know that they have important roles to play.”

Xulu prayed with the children that God would help bring people in who can calm down and address these issues in South Africa.
