JRA earmarks Ward 117 roads for repair
SAXONWOLD – Meetings are soon to be held for more details regarding the JRA's pronouncements on road resurfacing projects in Ward 117.
Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck shared that the Johannesburg Roads Agency’s (JRA) list of road-resurfacing for 2019 to 2020 has been released.
A total of 3.2 km of roads, which include those in Saxonwold, have been earmarked. The roads are Rutland Road starting from Wells Avenue all the way to Oxford Road. Another road is Griswold Road starting from Saxonwold Drive to Oxford Road.
Truluck said, “Griswold Road is probably the worst road in the ward and you can see it’s like a farm track. There’s quiet a few in Saxonwold that look like this, such as Northwold Drive. I have been pestering the City to fix them since I was elected eight years ago. Last year, they said they were going to and obviously had budget constraints.”
He added that the Region B ward councillors got their list of road reinstatements and the above mentioned were on the list.
“We will find out more as the financial year progresses and we’ll soon have meetings with JRA in the region about the road resurfacing programme in our region and what the likely outcome is going to be, how much money, when they will start the work and so on,” Truluck concluded.
