JMPD officers set to assist traffic during Caltex Garage road closure

ROSEBANK – Road users should be on the look out for road closure by the Caltex Garage on Jan Smuts in Rosebank but assurance is given that JMPD will assist traffic.

Ward 117 councillor Tim Truluck shared that there will be a road closure in Rosebank on 6 July. The councillor shared the information obtained from safety officer, Nthiba Ray Diale who stated that the closure will be due to the removal of five underground fuel storage tanks at Caltex Garage on 172 Jan Smuts Avenue.

“The southbound lanes on Jan Smuts Avenue will be closed between Jellicoe and Tyrwhitt avenues from 7am to 5pm, although this is weather dependent. The project should take about eight hours and involves loading trucks which will have to park on Jan Smuts Avenue,” stated Diale.

He added that the Johannesburg Metro Police Department will assist with the road closure and redirecting traffic into Jellicoe, Sturdee and Tyrwhitt avenues during the project.
