The Rotary Arts Festival is back

ROSEBANK – An even bigger Rotary Arts Festival is promised this year in Rosebank and art enthusiasts are invited to the 11-day event.

This year the Rotary Arts Festival will again be showcased at Rosebank Mall. With over 500 artworks from 100 artists, the festival is a highlight of Johannesburg’s cultural calendar – a date to be diarised.

Rosebank has grown into Johannesburg’s art hub over the past few years, with the well-attended First Thursdays, multiple drool-worthy galleries sprawled on Jan Smuts Avenue and gourmet craft restaurants and bars to boot. This year the talent of some of South Africa’s recognised artists will on view in the heart of it all: Rosebank Mall.

Artworks will be on display from 30 May to 09 June, from 6pm on 30 May and from 9am to 6pm thereafter. There are hundreds of artworks to see, multiple interactive workshops to attend and the final GTC Portrait Award entries and results to view.

Whether you want to grow your art investment with a piece by one of South Africa’s emerging artists, or match the décor in one of your favourite rooms, the Rotary Art Expo has just what you’re looking for.

As a charity-based exhibition, the expo is unique in the South African art market and donates all its proceeds from display panels rented to artists. This year the proceeds will go to three preselected charities or causes: SA Guide Dogs College of Orientation and Mobility, a three-day youth leadership course championed by the Rotary Club of Rosebank, and the acquisition of a container for use by the Palliative Care Unit at the Baragwanath Hospital.

Nothing feels as good as finding a great piece of art you love at an affordable price and knowing that you are bringing some light into someone else’s life.
