Suspect arrested in Parkhurst for possession of suspected stolen motor vehicle

PARKHURST – The suspect is expected to appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates' Court to answer to charges of possession of a suspected stolen motor vehicle.

Parkview police arrested a 36-year-old woman for possession of a suspected stolen vehicle on 20 May in Parkhurst.

Spokesperson for the Parkview Police Station Captain Tintswalo Sibeko said that police members were patrolling the area when they received a call from Cortac Security, who spotted a maroon Subaru, which was suspected to be stolen.

“The police officials checked the vehicle registration number through the SAPS’ radio control and it was confirmed that the car was reported stolen last month in Brooklyn, Pretoria.”

Sibeko said that the suspect was arrested and will appear in the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court to answer to charges of possession of a suspected motor vehicle on 21 May.

“The station commander of Parkview SAPS Colonel Theledi Gopane would like to commend the members of Parkview SAPS and Cortac Security for working together with police and ensuring that they create a safe environment for the community,” said Sibeko.
