Beezy Bailey is a busy man

ROSEBANK – Artist Beezy Bailey launched his book in the presence and support of his family at the Everard Read Gallery in Rosebank.

With a lot of support from family, friends and interested attendees, artist Beezy Bailey launched a new publication at the Everard Read Circa gallery in Rosebank. Published by Circa Press, the monograph which gives a detailed and specialised written study of art offers a glimpse into the multi-coloured and broad world of Beezy Bailey.

The book which is titled with the author’s name contains an introduction by Brian Eno; essays by art historian, Richard Cork and culture writer for the New York Times, Roslyn Sulcas. The works in the book are illustrated through sculpture, ceramics, paintings, prints, and drawings.

Director and chairperson at the Everard Read Gallery, Mark Read said he did not only sell Bailey’s work, but he also understood it.

“The book really captures what he’s about beautifully with lovely colours and fabulous passages of paint. It has been a huge ambition and will take to the minds of people who don’t know him by now.”

Bailey said it had been a seven-year project which was happening in various forms and trying to put everything together was a lot of work. “Frozen dreams, images and legends enter from my subconscious, the realm of my imagination. I act as a conduit for visual messages greater than I am.”

The works are often accompanied by poems such as the 1000 Year Dance Cure in which he encourages the world to ‘dance a new dance and embrace each other in our humanity’.
