Over 1000 packs of stationery collected at Killarney Mall

KILLARNEY – Children at Thembelenkosini Care Givers can enjoy pens and paper.

Killarney Mall and Mall Space Management with support from their sponsors helped donate an enormous stack of stationery and food parcels for the children at Thembelenkosini Care Givers in Soweto.

Thembelenkosini Care Givers has been the selected non-profit organisation for the Killarney Mall Stationery Drive for several years. Sharon Wapnick, a well-known and hugely successful businesswoman in the community, was part of this initiative. This charity is very close to her and the Killarney community.

The organisation’s mission is to physically, emotionally, creatively, and intellectually enhance the lives of children in the community of Senaoane.

The team had the goal of putting together 1 000 stationery packs and far surpassed their target. Items such as pens, books and glue were collected at the mall with massive help from sponsor Bostik and the greater community. Pick n Pay and Dis-Chem came on board to provide other needed items such as meals and snacks.

Each child at the centre was extremely excited and grateful. “The generous contribution from our sponsors and shoppers helped make our vision a reality by helping those children in need of basic stationery needs to continue to thrive in an environment where these items are considered such a luxury,” said Mall Space Management’s marketing manager Candice Perry.
