Greenside High learners relieved after achieving 100 per cent pass rate
GREENSIDE – The Class of 2018 at Greenside High performed extremely well with two learners achieving eight distinctions.

Greenside High School was abuzz with learners collecting their final matric results on 4 January.
The school received a 100 per cent matric pass rate, with 99 per cent of learners qualifying for tertiary education.
Tinotenda Mudzingwa and Joshua Trace achieved eight distinctions and were invited to attend a function with the Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi in Pretoria on the day when the results were released.

Three learners achieved seven distinctions, one achieved six and two achieved five.
Principal Nicola Whyte said though she was relieved that the Class of 2018 had achieved a 100 per cent pass rate, it was not the most important thing.

“There were no major surprises with this year’s results. At the end of the day, every school is judged on matric results which I don’t think is necessarily fair. The competitiveness between the ex-model C schools is not good. I prefer to acknowledge those disadvantaged schools that have made great strides each year.”
