Unknown perpetrators break in to parked cars in Parkhurst

PARKHURST – Three colleagues had an ordeal while visiting Parkhurst as their two parked cars got broken into with valuables stolen from one of the cars.

Three colleagues allegedly encountered car break-ins whilst visiting Parkhurst on the evening of 21 November.

According to a report by one of the colleagues, Robert Visser, the three of them went to a restaurant and pub and parked their two cars on 7th Street around 4.30pm.

When they walked back to their cars about two hours later, the other colleague noticed her car had been broken into. When she opened her boot, she found that her laptop had been stolen and the third colleague who had flown in the previous morning from KZN, had her suitcase with all her belongings stolen from the said vehicle.

Visser whose car was parked opposite the mentioned car, immediately went over to check if everything was okay. However, he found that his right-hand rear door’s window was smashed and chucked underneath the car. Nothing had allegedly been stolen, however, as he had taken his belongings out.

Visser said, “Security guys from Rapid Response happened to pass by and we stopped them to report the incident. They phoned the Parkview police but they couldn’t come to the scene as they had no cars.”

They went to the station the following morning to report the incident and according to Visser, it was a long day involving fingerprints being taken on both cars. The Rosebank Killarney Gazette is still awaiting comment from the Parkview police.
