In celebration of Women’s Month we asked Sandton residents how they celebrated Women’s Day and whether they feel it is cause for celebration?

XOLISWA NDZIMANDZE: I do think it is really important to celebrate Women’s Day because we have come a long way but there are still many challenges faced by women that need to be addressed.
THAPELO PHETLHO: Women play a huge role in my life and it’s up to us to protect them and we need to be teaching young boys how to care for women.
MPUMI SIBEKO: I think it’s important for me to reflect on the impact I have as a woman. I think the role of a woman is taken for granted and we need to support that.
NICK LANCASTER: I do think it’s important for us to celebrate the history of Women’s Day but also confront the problems that many women still face today.
KGOMOTSO MARAKALALA: There is still a lot of work that needs to be done; a lot of people just take it as a day off rather than taking an opportunity to empower young women.
