Greenside boy helps win Minquiz National Science Competition

GREENSIDE – Greenside High School learner makes Gauteng proud after taking a challenge at a math and science competition.

 

The Gauteng province has won the National Mintek Quiz Competition and it is all thanks to the Greenside High School‘s Joshua Trace.

Joshua participated on the national competition’s final on 19 July when he represented Gauteng following his provincial win in May this year.

Minquiz is a math and science competition that is hosted by Mintek each year and consists of a provincial competition followed by a national competition. Three youngsters from Greenside High School had been selected to participate in the provincial competition and were required to write a test.

Based on the results of the written test, five schools were selected to participate in an oral quiz. Joshua won the provincial written test and his team from Greenside High went on to win the Gauteng provincial competition. His performance in the provincial competition earned him a spot in the Gauteng team.

The competition ran for three rounds of oral quizzes, in addition to learning activities provided by Mintek. At the end of the first round, Gauteng was placed second in the quiz. Joshua participated in round two and three.

Due to his valuable contribution, Gauteng won the National Mintek Competition.

Greenside High School is very proud of Joshua as this is a truly exceptional achievement.
