Kingsmead College youngsters excited for year ahead

ROSEBANK – Kingsmead College principal Lisa Kaplan is delighted by the matric results and looks forward to the year ahead.

Staff members and matrics at Kingsmead College are ecstatic over the matric results and look forward to a challenging and fulfilling year ahead.

The class of 2017 obtained a 100 per cent pass rate as well 100 per cent bachelor pass rate, a result which principal Lisa Kaplan is absolutely delighted with.

Kaplan said, “It was such a wonderful result, the girls worked really hard for their results.”

She said the highlights of her year was a speech made by head girl Baphiwe Roji who challenged both the schoolchildren and staff members at the school. Among other highlights of the school year was the inter-high swimming gala and the annual book fair.

On 17 January, Kaplan welcomed the new Grade 8s. “I am looking forward to beginning the five-year journey with them and to watch them flourish.

“I think I’m always challenged to grow with the girls as well. When I was welcoming the Grade 8s I told them I still get nervous about the first day too. I’ve been the head here for 10 years and I still get just as nervous as I did on my first day.”

The schoolgirls at Kingsmead College will have a busy year ahead of them with lots of sporting, cultural and service opportunities.

The new leaders for this year will also be involved in numerous activities and projects.

“My advice for the class of 2018 is to work consistently throughout the year. It’s all about starting with the work now and working consistently as the year goes on, it honestly goes by in a flash.”
