#ICYMI: Mother behind bars in Hillbrow for alleged child neglect

PARKTOWN – A young toddler who was found on 29 December will remain under the care of social workers after her mother came forward on 6 January.

The mother of a toddler, believed to be about two years old and who was found on her own on Empire Road in Parktown on 29 December, is behind bars at Hillbrow Police Station.

According to Sergeant Mduduzi Zondo, spokesperson for Hillbrow Police Station, the toddler’s mother came forward on 6 January, eight days after the toddler was found.

Zondo said, “A case of child neglect has been opened against the mother and the toddler will remain under the care of social workers.”

The Pink Ladies, who had been assisting with finding the parents of the girl, were unable to comment at the time of publication.
