Zidaan, who attained distinctions in English, Afrikaans, life orientation, maths, physical sciences, information technology, accounting, life sciences, history and AP maths, said he was overjoyed with his results. “It’s been a very long and hard year. I also want to give my best wishes and congratulations to all my friends and fellow matriculants.

“As for myself, however, I’ll be pursuing a degree in electrical engineering at a university that I’m still to decide on.”

Another top achiever at the school and one of three to achieve nine distinctions, Rushil Daya, said he plans to pursue metatronic engineering at the University of Cape Town as part of his future plans. He adding that his matric results should provide him with the impetus needed to succeed.

“I suppose these results give me the confidence that whatever I put my mind to, I can achieve. Just knowing that I’ve done what I wanted to do, will help me in the future,” he said

that they were content with their performance in last year’s finals, despite not attaining any outstanding marks.

“I expected to do much better, but my parents are happy with the marks and with the pass,” said Memphis.

Siyabonga added, “I’ve been expecting this moment for a while and I’m pretty satisfied with what I have done because I had put the work in. Even though I didn’t receive any distinctions, that’s okay because I worked for the marks that I got and I’m pleased with that.”
