11 injured when taxi crashed into light motor vehicle and rolled on M1

Paramedics arrived on the scene shortly after 9.15am to find the taxi lying on its roof in the emergency lane, said ER24.

ER24 paramedics responded to the collision scene on the M1 Highway near the Athol Oaklands turnoff on Sunday, 24 September.

There were 11 people injured in the collision.

ER24 spokesperson, Russel Meiring, said, “ER24 paramedics, along with other services, arrived on the scene shortly after 9.15am to find the taxi lying on its roof in the emergency lane. The occupants had already climbed out of the vehicle and were found seated on the embankment.”

He said paramedics assessed the patients and found that eleven had sustained injuries ranging from minor to moderate. Fortunately, no fatalities were found on this scene.

“The patients were treated for their injuries and were thereafter transported to Busamed Private Hospital for further care,” said Meiring.

“The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.”
