The money was raised by Fallen Heroes tattoo artists who donated their hourly fee to the cause on 18 July to commemorate Mandela Day.

Mpaki Pule, the donor relations manager for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund said, “Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund has three focus areas namely, child safety and protection, child survival and development and the youth as change agents. The development committee sits twice a year to assess applications and select those aligned to our work. So the money we receive goes to beneficiaries.”

Melody Kaye, the marketing manager for Fallen Heroes said, “We felt the foundation was an obvious choice because of their focuses and what they are doing and where they are going, and we feel it’s always growing and evolving and that for me is incredibly impressive.”
