Two men were arrested at OR Tambo International Airport on 11 June for being in possession of 10 rhino horns.
The Hawks, which are based in Parktown, found six rhino horns in one man’s suitcase and four in the luggage of the other.
“The suspects were nabbed shortly before boarding a plane destined for the People’s Republic of China,” said Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi of the Hawks.

The estimated value of the rhino horns recovered is R2.8 million. The two men, aged 35 and 57 appeared in the Kempton Park Magistrates’ Court on 14 June.
