Drug awareness at Hope School

PARKVIEW – Police created drug awareness at Hope School recently.

Parkview police recently conducted a drug awareness campaign at Hope School.

The fact that drug abuse is stalking our youth concerns the police. They visited the school in Westcliff to remind the youth that the decision to take drugs could be a death sentence.

“The youth will always be our first priority to save from the consequences of drug abuse because they are potential future leaders,” said Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, spokesperson for the station.

Parkview police invited Jody van Jaarsveldt from Healing Wings South Africa and St George’s Reintegration Centre to talk to the children about drugs.

Van Jaarsveldt mentioned that the purpose of the talk is to inform the youth about the importance of their choice and the reality of drugs and the consequences on society and themselves.

Sergeant Iris Phoko, the social crime prevention coordinator at Parkview Police Station, also informed the schoolchildren to report the individuals who are selling drugs to schoolchildren because the South African Police Service wants to create a safe environment for all.
