Success by Johannesburg East Cluster with 184 arrests in the area

JOHANNESBURG – The Johannesburg East Cluster shares their successful arrests for the week.

 

The Johannesburg East cluster arrested 184 suspects from 20 to 26 March.

The suspects were arrested for committing crimes ranging from rape to possession of unlicensed firearms and attempted murder.

The suspects were arrested for the following:

  • 2 for attempted murder
  • 3 for rape
  • 13 for common assault
  • 21 for assault with the intent to cause grievous bodily harm
  • 12 for theft
  • 33 for driving under the influence
  • 2 for possession of unlicensed firearms
  • 16 for dagga possession
  • 3 for fraud
  • 9 for malicious damage to property
  • 5 for possession of suspected stolen property
  • 10 for shoplifting
  • 2 for armed robbery
  • 2 for business robbery
  • 16 illegal immigrants arrested
  • 3 for possession of stolen motor vehicles
  • 2 for warrants of arrest
  • 4 for common robbery
  • 1 possession of counterfeit money
  • 1 for possession of counterfeit DVDs
  • 5 for copper possession
  • 1 for perjury
  • 2 for dealing in dagga
  • 3 for attempted robbery
  • 1 for hit and run
  • 3 for intimidation
  • 1 for crimen injuria
  • 1 for negligent loss of a firearm
  • 4 for possession of ammunition
  • 3 for possession of dangerous weapons.

According to Captain Richard Munyayi, communications officer for the cluster, some of the suspects have appeared in different courts, others have paid their fines, while others are out on bail and some remain in police custody.
