Filmmaker John ‘JJ’ Volmink has died

JOBURG - Filmmaker John 'JJ' Volmink has died.

Filmmaker John ‘JJ’ Volmink was killed while on his way to his Rosebank home on 25 February.

Volmink (33), who is the son of Cape Peninsula University of Technology acting vice-chancellor John Volmink, died after he was knocked over by a car while crossing the road.

In his short but prosperous career, JJ founded the Braamfontein-based Diprente Films and produced some of South Africa’s most popular TV shows including the critically acclaimed Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola and The Bantu Hour featuring jazz great Hugh Masekela.

The entertainment community paid their respects on social media.

He leaves behind his wife Kristie and their daughter Hannah.
