Meet Parkview police commander

PARKVIEW – Parkview Police Station has a new station commander.

Parkview Police Station has welcomed its new station commander, Colonel Theledi Zacharia Gopane who was appointed in November.

Gopane said he was ready to serve the community of Parkview. “I feel blessed that I met one of my colleagues, brother and friend, Lieutenant Colonel Sandile Mkhize, Parkview Police Station’s visible police commander with whom I started my police career with, when training and moulding the new police recruits. I am grateful that we are working together again to fight crime,” he said.

Gopane joined the police force in 1988 and after his completion of basic training, he became an instructor at Hammanskraal Police College. In 2002 he became a station commander as a captain in Hoopstad and was further appointed as station commander for Heilbron and Bronville in the Free State.

“His records prove that he is a dedicated and committed policeman who puts the safety of the community first and believes in an open-door policy,” said Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, spokesperson for the station.

Gopane achieved the following awards from the Free State provincial police office:

  •  2008 to 2009: Best visible police officer of the year
  •  2013: Simunye model award
  • 2015 to 2016: Special provincial commissioner awards
  • 2016: Free State Man of the Year\

Parkview Police Station wished the community a safe festive season.
