Help find Ollie

GREENSIDE – A ginger/white cat has been missing since 4 November.

The owners of a long-haired ginger/white cat, known as Oliver (Ollie), are seeking assistance in finding their pet, who went missing from their residence in Greenside on 4 November.
According to the owner, Melissa Huneberg, the four-year-old micro-chipped Ollie is a calm, adorable cat who loves being rubbed and shows affection when invited to.
Unfortunately, this is not the first time Ollie has gone missing. The owner says he first went missing from Northcliff Drive, towards the end of September.
“He squeezed himself through a small window due to fireworks going on in the area,” explained Huneberg.
“On or about 28 November, Allyson Douglas heard him in her garden in Weltevreden Park, where he stayed for four days being fed by her.”

Douglas went on to place an ad on Facebook and, as luck would have it, Huneberg’s friend saw the post. Huneberg then went to Douglas’ residence to call Ollie who didn’t respond.
On the evening of 2 October, Douglas successfully caught Ollie and contacted Huneberg, who took the cat – who had become extremely aggressive – to her new home in Greenside. Two days later, the animal bolted out of the residence.
“We have been searching for him ever since, regularly placing adverts and appeals on Facebook pages for people to keep an eye out for him, hoping he will go into someone else’s garden looking for food,” said the owner.
According to Douglas, she received a Facebook message from an animal psychic named Shelbyluna. She requested photos of Ollie in order to connect with him. The psychic said she saw Ollie surrounded by other cats, tabbies, gingers as well as black and white cats. She said Ollie is in an area with buildings and shrubs and that he has joined a feral colony.
“This may or may not be true but a good possibility due to our Facebook appeals for sightings not proving successful. Feral feeders are not eager to name where their feral colonies are for fear of the colony being removed by authorities,” said Douglas.
“We would appreciate it if the feral feeders could keep an eye out to see if a ginger male has joined their colony looking for food.”
A distraught Huneberg is appealing to anyone who has seen Ollie or knows his whereabouts to get in touch with her or Douglas.
“We found Ollie when he was about three weeks old; we had to bottle-feed him. Our other special kitty, Alfie, took great care of him and always protected him. Ollie is such a gentle soul and just so lovable. I miss him so much. He has such a special place in my heart,” said Huneberg.
