DSJ boys do it again

PARKTOWN – Two boys from The Deutsche Internationale Schule recently excelled in MMA.

Two pupils from The Deutsche Internationale Schule, Inam Bohle and Maximilian van Heerden competed in the 2016 Shotokan mixed martial arts (MMA) competition recently. They did exceptionally well and managed to win a few medals and a trophy.

The duo attends Macson Dojo in Sandton and study MMA with Sensei Gary McLean, a 4th Dan. Bohle who is in Grade 6 won bronze and Van Heerden who is in Grade 7 won three gold medals and a trophy.

The students were tested in MMA, Kata (which is specific movements to a prescribed pattern), Kumite-freestyle fighting, light to medium contact, kicking and boxing and Osae Komi Wasa (which is grappling on the ground, specifically to force the opponent onto their back or to force a submission through a choke or armlock).
