Residents encouraged to vote

JOHANNESBURG – Ward councillor promises to continue serving residents post elections.

Voting day on 3 August will see millions of South Africans lining up in different districts to cast their ballots in this year’s municipal elections.

According to Independent Electoral Commission statistics, more than 6.2 million voters are expected to cast their votes in Gauteng, with 21 political parties contesting the election at more than 2 000 voting stations.

Mia Snyman, DA Ward 73 councillor, said it had been an enriching and fulfilling journey for her and she has gained a lot of experience which will enable her to do a better job going forward. Snyman said she was committed to work for and serve the residents of her ward.

“I will focus on getting the basics of service delivery right in Ward 73,” said Snyman.

“I am not only asking you to vote for me, but to vote for the Democratic Alliance to win Johannesburg.”

Snyman believes that the DA can win Johannesburg, but only if every resident casts both their ballots for the DA.

Joy Coplan, ANC Ward 90 proportional representation councillor, has also encouraged registered voters in her ward to go out in their numbers to make their voices heard through their votes. “We all have the right to vote,” Coplan said.

“Let us go out on the 3 August and exercise it.”
