Motorists beware.

CRAIGHALL – Snapped cables pose a potential danger to motorists on Waterfall Avenue.

Snapped Telkom cables are blocking a traffic lane on Waterfall Avenue in Craighall Park opposite the car dealership, Fury Hyde Park.

The dealership said it had reported the matter to Telkom on 1 July but was yet to receive assistance. “Our biggest concern was Friday and Saturday night,” said an official of Fury Hyde Park who chose to remain anonymous.

“Initially, we contacted Eskom but they came out to look and discovered that it wasn’t their lines but Telkom’s. We are not getting any response from Telkom,” he added.

The dealership official said they suspected that the cables hooked onto a tree branch which snapped. At the moment, the dealership has placed makeshift safety measures to prevent any potential danger but motorists still face an inconvenience as they have to face oncoming traffic because of the low-lying cables on the road causing an obstruction.

Telkom SA has yet to give an official comment.
