Your support will help get new books

ROSEBANK – Support the Rosebank Library to make it possible for them to add new books to their shelves.

It’s that time of the month again when Friends of the Rosebank Library appeals to community members for book donations.

The donated books will be sold at the monthly book sale which will be held on 26 May at the Rosebank Library from 9am to 4pm.

Community members who would like to donate books can drop them off at the library, located on 8 Keyes Avenue, between 9am and 5pm except on Fridays and Saturdays when the library closes at 1pm and on Wednesdays from 1pm onwards.

Friends of the Rosebank Library is a voluntary association which seeks to encourage the community to support the library. According to the chairperson of the association, Judy Stockill, the library has first option on the books which are donated. Suitable books are taken into the library stock for the use and enjoyment of library members of the Rosebank Library.

The remaining books are then offered for sale. “We find good homes for the books and magazines that don’t sell,” said Stockill.

She explained that proceeds made from the book sale will be used to boost the City’s budget for new books. She added that their organisation also contributes by buying new books which are donated to the library.

The chairperson also mentioned that their organisation’s doors were open and ready to welcome new members who want to assist with the sale and managing the sale stock. Those interested in volunteering can do so by visiting the library or phoning the librarian.

The association is planning to host a book club day on 7 July. Members of all book clubs are invited to attend the event.
