Get glowing for the Neon Run

ILLOVO – Time to glow hard or go home, while the Neon Run 2016 turns up the volume for the most fluorescent event on the running calendar.

The Neon Run 2016, a 5km run and music festival, will be glowing up Wanderers on 14 May with an epic new stage, route and lineup.

Ready? Set … Glow!

Neon Runners will crawl, run, walk, roll or ride their way through a 5km neon wonderland, dressed in their lumo-best, ready and warmed up for an electrifying after party with South Africa’s top DJs and musicians.

The route will have you glowing crazy with some new fluorescent fun and more glow stations than ever before. Each glow station is designed to light up your night with music, black lights, UV arches, UV paint and unique themes. Neon runners will ‘Travolta’ their way through Disco World, become human ‘walks of art’ when they blast their way through Paint Paradise and encounter other splashy surprises.

After the run is done and dusted, the lights will go down and the music will turn up. The run will be taking the entertainment to the next level with a new and improved stage, a state-of-the-art lightshow, lasers, effects and a line-up that will have entrants running to get to the festival finish.

The musical line-up will thus far include the following bands: Goodluck, Rubber Duc and iScream & the Chocolate Stix, while DJs Kyle Waston and Dean Fuel will be mixing on deck for the rest of the night. The full line-up is yet to be announced, however.

What better way to get some exercise and have some fun doing it? All entrants will receive Discovery Points to match their healthy post-race glow.

Gates will open at 2pm and the event will end at 11.30pm. There will be a wide range of bar areas and a dedicated food zone available for some pre- and post-race refreshment. The race only starts at 6pm, but get there early so that you have time to get your glow-jo going full force.
