According to the Northcliff Melville Times, the gun is thought to have belonged to the child’s grandfather.
The Police’s Gauteng spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Lungelo Dlamini, said police were called to the scene after the school security found a firearm on one of the pupils and said a follow up investigation would be conducted.
The weapon was found on the pupil on 25 January.
