Local NPO robbed at gun point

HOUGHTON – Four armed robbers got away with 40 laptops, cellphones and an undisclosed amount of cash after holding up staff at ORT SA in the early hours of 19 January.

“We would like to assure our beneficiaries and donors that our work continues, although communication may be hampered somewhat until we have everything back in place,” said spokesperson for the school, Marcelle Ravid.

She further stated that they are still able to come their clients’ premises and use their equipment to continue computer training with their staff.

“Our school Mathematics programme continues without a hitch and we are busy recruiting at the moment for the 2016 Second Chance programme,” Ravid continued. “Registration is taking place daily between 9am and 1pm at the Anglican Church, Eighth Avenue, Alexandra. Registration for the ORT SA Business Enterprise Training continues this week.
