Ward 117 and the year that was

ROSEBANK – That time to reflect back on busy 2015 is finally upon us and councillor for Ward 117 Tim Truluck wanted to share his views and reflections with all the residents in his constituency.

“I would like to wish all the residents in and around the suburbs that make up Ward 117 well over the holidays and I hope that 2016 is a prosperous new year,” said Truluck.

“[This year] has been a topsy-turvy year with deadly bus crashes, collapsed bridges, floods, fires, billing and now trash issues.

“[Next year] marks the end of the current ward councillors’ five-year term. Some (including myself) will be staying on,” he continued.

“Others will be moving on. So expect some exciting new faces and energy in May. A municipal election is the only time a voter in South Africa gets to vote for an actual named person and the issues are all about local problems. Of course, we are stuck with an ever-floundering city administration who are increasingly incapable of doing the basics correctly.”

He stated that it will be of utmost importance to register and vote in next year’s municipal elections. “In a municipal election, you can only vote where you are registered,” he said in conclusion.

“And you only have two chances to register at your new voting station before the May election – on the weekends of 6 and 7 February and then on 5 and 6 March. Let’s get as many people registered to vote in the right place, and then get them all out to vote in May.”
