Fundraiser for Reea Foundation

PARKTOWN – Duo to take audiences back to the '60s in a musical fundraiser for Reea Foundation.

Sisters Jenny and André Hattingh have joined hands and their voices to perform a fundraiser musical entitled Forever Young that will take audiences on a trip back to the 60s.

The fundraiser will be in aid of the Reea Foundation (previously Reea Epileptic Care Centre) and to celebrate the 80th year of the Reea Foundation.

“Music is the light and joy of communication, and to be able to share this gift while still doing this for a great cause is just amazing,” said André Hattingh.

Parktown North Methodist Church will host the musical duo on 28 November at 3pm.

“The show promises to make you happy and take you down memory lane. It caters for everyone and promises to be enjoyable,” explained Jenny.

Reea Foundation was established in 1935 and is a non-profit organisation that cares for adults living with epilepsy and mild mental disorders who cannot be accommodated in a normal family environment. They provide a residential centre, with 24-hour care, which includes professional medical care at all times. The centre is located in Craighall Park.

A range of activities, skills training and arts and crafts classes, along with employment contracts and education, are provided at the centre with the aim of improving functional levels and quality of life.

Their show will feature songs by Bob Dylan, the Seekers, Peter Paul and Mary, Mammas and the Pappas and many more.

André added that they have performed at many fundraisers to help good causes but also perform for shows. They recently captivated audiences at the 23rd Hilton Arts Festival.

The show will cost you R200, which will include snacks and refreshments. There will also be a fun Pick a Box auction. “We urge people to book fast, as there is limited seating. A booking can be made by e-mailing Reea,” explained Andre.
