Totalsports Women’s Race raises funds for PinkDrive

JOHANNESBURG – Just under 13 000 runners and walkers participated in the 2015 Totalsports Women’s Race series which took place in Durban, Johannesburg and Stellenbosch in support of PinkDrive.

Due to the amazing support, event organisers were able to donate the incredible sum of R67 432 to PinkDrive, a non-profit organisation which is committed to improving breast cancer awareness and education, and provides breast health services to women across the country.

Carmen Garzouzie, head of Totalsports, said the race is a token of recognition to all women. “We are committed to inspiring and empowering women through sport, to take control of their lives and of their health. In staying true to our cause, it was vital that we raised awareness for breast cancer as it affects one out of 26 women in South Africa.”

“We love the Totalsports Women’s Race,” said Noelene Kotschan, PinkDrive founder and CEO.

“Each event offered us a unique platform to reach out to thousands of women (and men), in so doing allowing us to bring home the message that early detection really does save lives. All monies raised will go towards keeping our mobile mammography units on the road. We also aim to build more mobile units.”

Online entries for the 2016 Totalsports Women’s Race will open on 1 February next year.
