Gunshots fired in Parkhurst

PARKHURST - A suspect has allegedly been apprehended after he attempted to rob a home in Parkhurst on 13 October.

In the early hours of 13 October, Cortac’s dog unit, V45, was patrolling in Parkhurst when they heard gunshots coming from the direction of 11th Street.

Their tactical officers proceeded to the location to investigate and saw a suspect fleeing. “The suspect was then chased on foot and apprehended. He admitted he had been trying to break into a house in Parkhurst and that the homeowner had fired his weapon at him,” said Darren Greenberg, Cortac area manager for Parkhurst.

According to him, the suspect took the tactical officers back to the house where he had allegedly tried to break in.

“The homeowner positively identified him as the suspect,” he said.

Greenberg said Parkview police arrested the suspect at the scene.

Rosebank Killarney Gazette has contacted Parkview police who are yet to comment.
