Following speculations of “eviction” for Parktown Village Residents in order for the school to expand parking space, Wits University students are set to protest against this plan.

According to Wits Vuvuzela, the Wits Business School (WBS) has responded that a plan to turn the student residence into a parking lot is still just a “draft” though student leaders say the university has confirmed to them privately that the plan is to go ahead.

Students have raised concerns that they were never formally informed about this plan and some of the might have no where to go if the plan is fast tracked.

The removal is set to affect over 150 students and workers at the residence, who might lose their jobs.

The proposed strike by the students is set to take place on 13 October.
