Suspect apprehended after attempted burglary

PARKVIEW - Business burglary suspect has been apprehended after attempting to steal R 50 000 worth of clothing.

Parkview police responded to a business burglary at Dunkeld West shopping centre.

A 37-year-old suspect was apprehended by the centre’s security personnel after he was found with clothing items valued at about R50 000. It is alleged the suspect entered the shop before it closed.

“He then hid inside until the next morning when the shop opened and unsuccessfully tried to run away,” said Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha, Parkview Police Station communication officer.

Police arrested the suspect and all the stolen goods were recovered. He will face charges of business break-in and theft at the Hillbrow Magistrates’ Court.

Dunkeld West shopping centre management are yet to comment about the incident.
