Soccer and netball clinic at Hyde Park High School

HYDE PARK – An educational soccer and netball clinic will take place during the school holidays.

Mvelo Sports International will host the sporting sessions at Hyde Park High School from until 9 October for boys and girls from the ages of 10 to 18.

Thokozile Ngwane of Mvelo Sports International, said the organisation offered a fun-filled way of entertaining children while getting them healthy. “This is important in South Africa today, as we have seen that obesity is slowly becoming an issue in our country and communities,” said Ngwane.

“Knowing how to keep children amused through the school holidays can sometimes be daunting for parents, especially when things cost so much.”

She said players could enjoy either a morning session from 9am to 12pm, or an afternoon session from 1pm to 4pm.

The programme aims to make the youngsters fit and healthy in a safe and fun environment supervised by a qualified facilitator. Ngwane also said the soccer and netball-related exercises were stimulating and engaging for the youngsters and are based on their age and ability.

“The focus is on fun while being taught the basics of being a good sportsman or woman as well as social interaction,” said Ngwane.

There will also be training sessions with a biokineticist, a specialised exercise therapist.

“The clinics are a fun-filled way to keep your kids busy,” added Ngwane.

“Parents can sign up to have their children join the week-long clinic during the October school holidays and ensure that their children get fit or stay fit whilst having fun, making friends and building confidence.”

There will also be guest appearances from soccer personalities and players during the sessions.
