Qhubeka hands over two signed MTN-Qhubeka jerseys to fitness companies

JOBURG - Two signed MTN-Qhubeka jerseys were handed over to WattLab Pro and Tarsus, the two cycling companies which won a simulation of the Tour de France spin-a-thon on 18 September.

The handover took place at Dimension Data Campus as representative, Sandi Brown on behalf of Qhubeka, handed over the jerseys. This after Qhubeka hosted a spin-a-thon at Cycle Lab to raise funds for the organisation, as well as awareness for Team MTN-Qhubeka which competed in the Tour de France.

Qhubeka is a non-profit organisation which believes in mobilising people with bicycles. They are dedicated to advancing education, health and economic opportunities by providing simple, sustainable transport.

The organisation’s aim is to help people move forward and progress by giving them bicycles in return for work done to improve their communities, the environment or academic results.

MTN Qhubeka is an African team which raced to raise awareness for the Qhubeka charity at the Tour de France with the goal of putting 5 000 African children on bicycles through the #BicyclesChangeLives campaign. The organisation’s goal for this year is to donate 5 000 bicycles to those in need and thus far they have donated approximately 4 200.

With the upcoming 947 Cycle Challenge in November, WattLab is offering eight weeks of training for R2 000 of which 10 percent will be donated back to Qhubeka, and an additional R100 will be donated to Qhubeka for every sign-up completing the 947 Cycle Challenge.

Riders are encouraged to Ride for a Purpose and represent Qhubeka at the 947 Cycle Challenge, as are corporate companies interested in hosting an internal spin-a-thon challenge to raise funds for Qhubeka.
