Old Eds Road Race is coming

HOUGHTON - The Old Eds annual Road Race is set to take place on 10 August and will cover two laps through Houghton.

In addition to the 21km race, there will also be the 10km race and the 10km walk for both men and women. This is the 36th year that the race will be run.

Last year, the winners of the 21km men’s and women’s races were Derocious Makhobalo (Nedbank) and René Kalmer (Modern Athlete) respectively, and it is expected that they will be defending their titles. Last year’s winners of the 10km men’s and women’s races were Zongamele Dyubeni (Nedbank) and Alemtsehay Hailu Kakissa (Nedbank, Ethiopia) respectively, and it is hoped that they will be again taking part.

Online entries are open for the 21km and 10km races or you can enter at The Sweatshop in Dunkeld West. Late entries can be made at Old Eds from 8 August up to and including the day of the race.

As in previous years, there will be plenty of added attractions on the day for the whole family to enjoy. Food will be served before and after the race and there will be entertainment laid on after the race for all competitors and their families.

Parking inside the Old Eds grounds on race day is limited; therefore, it is suggested you arrive early, however, Old Eds has organised additional parking at Houghton Primary School (about 600m from Old Eds).
