Another armed robbery in Parkhurst

A PARKHURST resident was the latest victim of an armed robbery, which police have seen an increase of in the past few weeks.

Darren Greenberg, manager at Cortec Security, confirmed that a 38-year-old female was robbed of her jewellery to the value of R150 000 after she was followed home from a Hyde Park shopping centre.

According to Greenberg, the victim was going into her driveway when she was approached by two suspects who pointed a firearm at her, demanding that she hand over all her jewellery.

Sergeant Lloyd Ramovha, spokesperson for Parkview Police Station, confirmed that the suspects drove away in a black Audi Q7.

The robbery took place on 8th Street in Parkhurst.

Greenberg added that the woman said she had been extremely vigilant and looked up and down her street before approaching her driveway. The incident was captured on CCTV.

Ramovha said, “Apart from the crime awareness campaigns that we continuously engage in, we will be intensifying the stop-and-searches around the area, and we would like to appeal to the public, once again, to be vigilant all the times as it is clear that in this case in particular and many others, the victim was followed home from a local shopping centre,” he said.

Ramovha confirmed that no arrests had been made and Parkview police were investigating the matter.
