Is this the future of driving

PARKHURST - THE friendly village of Parkhurst continues to push boundaries in ensuring that it is the greenest suburb of all, and Parkhurst residents and visitors were able to test drive the Nissan Leaf recently.

The 100 percent electric vehicle is a step closer to showing how the suburb can indeed fulfill its goal of bringing a more eco-friendly and sustainable life.

Chairman of the Parkhurst Residents’ and Business Owners’ Association Cheryl Labuschagne, confirmed that the neighborhood was planning to install four solar-powered electric vehicle charging stations in the village, and were currently in talks with the City of Joburg.

“As part of our Go-Green campaign, we are planning a number of solar-powered electric vehicle charging points in the village. With this in mind, we are very excited to introduce the community to the Nissan Leaf,” said Labuschagne.

Those who were able to test drive the car remarked on how smooth and quiet the vehicle was. “Only problem is nobody will hear you coming,” said one person who had just test-driven the vehicle.

According to Ntswaki Mphahla, the experience was mind-blowing. “The drive went very well, mind-blowing car… Although the price is steep, how much money do you use for fuel?” she said.
