Meet South Africa’s new Mr Gay SA

JOBURG - South Africa crowned its Mr Gay SA 2015 at Emperor’s Palace recently.

Similar to the Miss SA pageant, Mr Gay South Africa 2015 is chosen from 12 finalists to represent South Africa and especially its gay community.

Craig Maggs, the multi-talented heartthrob has three jobs. During the day he works for an HIV and Ebola research non-profit organisation, at night he waiters at the super steamy Beefcakes restaurant in Illovo and now, all the while, he will represent South Africa full time as Mr Gay South Africa 2015.

The show featured a star-studded line-up of performers which included the likes of Tamara Dey and Toya Delazy among others. Hosting the show was Anele Mdoda, who caused a little bit of a stir with a tweet on her account, referring to gay men as “a waste of good looking men”.

Maggs is a real people’s person and wanted everyone to know that all the men on stage were winners and would be involved in the tasks he performs as Mr Gay SA 2015.

He also mentioned that he would like to work with the gay youth and set them up with mentors to help them through the trying times, while also focusing his work on health and fitness.
