VIDEO – Car catches alight in Craighall
CRAIGHALL - A thick cloud of black smoke covered the sky above Craighall and Hyde Park after a white Land Rover caught alight in the parking lot of a flat complex just off Jan Smuts Avenue on 4 January.
The owner of the car who wished to remain anonymous said that she drove into the flat complex and her car suddenly was on fire around 7pm.
The owner and other residents immediately called the Johannesburg Fire Department but officer from CSS Tactical, who also called the fire department, and residents of the flat complex eventually killed the flames with fire extinguishers at the complex at 7.45pm.
The Automobile Association of South Africa (AA) and the Johannesburg Fire Department arrived after the flames had been extinguished.
As of yet the cause of the fire has not been established.
